I have to disagree with the review above. Bringing these amazing songs back to life shows the power of these classic songs, and giving them a chance to reach a new audience is a gift that these songs have long deserved.

The vocals show power, range, and emotion and are a pleasure to listen too.

Petula herself was a huge start of stage and musical theater.

I listened to the preview tracks, as I am more than a fan of the staggering pop catalog of Ms Clark and the writing of Tony Hatch , I've been around the block in the record business, and that's why I'll chime in here (I was directed here). Ms Linehan has a wonderful musical theater voice, but that's the problem. These classic songs sound musical theaterized. The same way as Kristen Chenoweth musical theaterizes covers of classic pop songs on the Tonight Show now and then.

I understand wanting these to be a tribute and not an impersonation which is wholly admirable, but other than indulgence to honor a hero I don't see the voice as a good fit.

Emma Bunton of the Spice Girls, a far inferior singer to Ms Linehan, covered "Downtown" with the assistance of Mr. Hatch, and it just sits better.

Its very difficult to tribute songs and arrangements that are this great, sung by a rich iconic voice and I'm certain Ms Clark, ever gracious, knows this.
