Event Alert: The SCL and ASCAP Present Film and TV Songwriter Showcase At The Living Room (5/4)

The Society Of Composers & Lyricists In NY and ASCAP will be presenting a Songwriter Showcase at The Living Room tonight (5/4) from 7-8:45PM.

Hosted by leading music supervisor Sue Jacobs (Sunshine Cleaning, Little Miss Sunshine, all Julian Schnabel and M. Night Shyamalan’s films), the event will feature leading film and television composers performing songs they’ve written for these media and for other side projects. Jacobs will offer insights into how songs find their way into television shows, films and commercials.

The showcase will be followed by an informal gathering at the bar area of The Living Room, allowing for networking among composers, music supervisors and song pluggers.

Performers will include:

Joe McGinty: Former member of the Psychedelic Furs; Film/TV composer (Malcolm in the Middle, The State); song placement (Bored To Death, The Daily Show); Founder and Director of the New York music institution, The Losers Lounge.

Joy Askew: A musician/singer who’s performed with Peter Gabriel, Joe Jackson, Laurie Anderson, Rodney Crowell and Sufjan Stevens; has been published by Quincy Jones and Warner Chappell; and has songs in films (Center Stage, Havana Nights), TV (Baywatch) and ads (Lowes, Budwiser, Nike).

JT Curtis: A composer for several music houses in Los Angeles and New York (CBS, Ed Wood Music, Bang Bang Boom, Manmade Music).  As a songwriter/artist, he released his first CD, From The Beginning, in 2008.
