Downtown’s Songtrust and Indaba Music Announce Partnership

Songtrust, the online rights management solution for independent songwriters created by NYC-based Downtown Music, has partnered with Indaba Music to provide new ways for musicians to better manage the rights and royalties for their creations.

Innovators in the DIY revolution for musicians

Through the partnership, Songtrust will offer music publishing administration services at a discount to members of Indaba Music’s community of 600,000 musicians to manage their copyrights and royalty collections for original compositions. Songtrust will also promote Indaba Music’s songwriting and remix opportunities to its affiliated songwriters and independent music publishers.

As part of the partnership, all Indaba members get an exclusive 15% discount on the first year of any Songtrust plan.

The partnership launched this week with a special Songtrust and Indaba Music songwriting opportunity: Indaba members will have the chance to submit an original song, and the winning artist will receive a trip to New York for a Songwriter Development Day, one-on-one with Songtrust and Indaba.

This session will be held with Justin Kalifowitz (Songtrust Co-Founder and Downtown Music Publishing President); JJ Rosen (Indaba Music CEO); Jeremy Yohai (Head of Writer Relations, Songtrust); Downtown Music’s sync licensing team and other special guests.

The winning songwriter will have a studio session with renowned engineer Zach Hancock (Alicia Keys, Mos Def, Kid Sister) at Downtown Studios, which will be filmed by Indaba. The prize also includes flights to New York and accommodations. Click for more on this contest.
