Moog Expands Taurus Bass Family with the Minitaur

Moog Music has announced the upcoming debut of Minitaur, which stands as the newest addition to the fabled Taurus Bass Synthesizer family.

Taurus bass in a new place! Moog has announced the Minitaur -- no foot pedals needed.

No foot pedals here! The compact and powerful Minitaur analog bass synthesizer (8.5” x 5.25”, less than 3lbs) features a one-knob-per-function-layout, and is the first Taurus instrument without foot pedals. Shipping in Spring 2012 with an MSRP of $679, it will be introduced at the upcoming Winter NAMM.

Minitaur introduces a new form factor, control interface and increased level of accessibility to the Taurus family of bass synths, which first debuted nearly 40 years ago and was made famous by such virtuoso users as Geddy Lee of Rush.

In 2009, Moog Music released the Taurus 3 Bass Pedals, a modern reinterpretation of the classic Taurus Bass Pedals. The Taurus 3 is currently used by artists such as The Black Keys, Animal Collective, Jean Michel Jarre, Yes, Weezer, Rush, and The Dave Matthews Band.
