“Masters From Their Day” Presents Deerhoof & Chris Shaw at Water Music
October 25, 2012 by Janice Brown
In the latest episode of the documentary series Masters From Their Day, the indie rock band Deerhoof hits the studio with a producer/engineer for the first time in their career. And that producer is…Chris Shaw – the Brooklyn-based recordist and mixer behind such celebrated releases as Weezer’s Blue Album, Public Enemy’s Fear of a Black Planet, Wilco’s A Ghost Is Born, and Bob Dylan’s Modern Times and Love and Theft.
Watch as the staunchly DIY Deerhoof team up with the accomplished producer/engineer at Water Music - an amazing tracking room just on the other side of the Hudson in Hoboken. The group had hardly tracked in a professional studio before. Here, they record the song, “Sexy, But Sparkly.” Click to download the track from Masters From Their Day.
The track is also available via the for-charity 7″ series LAMC - with 100% of the digital proceeds going to the Ariel Panero Memorial Fund at VH1 Save the Music.
