Learn With Splice: New Series from Some of YouTube’s Best Independent Educators

About a year and a half ago, the founders of Splice completed their seed funding, setting the stage for an online collaboration tool that has changed the way many musicians and producers work together. Their new YouTube series ‘Learn With Splice‘ is be a way for users to become even more familiar with Splice’s capabilities.

Splice Recap

Splice is a beautiful cloud collaboration platform that functions similarly to Version Control Software (VCS) used by software engineer (only much easier on the eyes.) DAW sessions are uploaded to Splice’s cloud where multiple collaborators can view session details like plugins, BPM, file size, etc, review, or download a local copy to add their adjustments and contributions.

Users have the freedom to experiment with copies or “branches” of the main DAW project that they have saved in the cloud. After a friendly review from your peers, changes can be committed, or you can revert to a prior version.

The multiple views allow for quick and easy review by fellow collaborators. Rather than downloading and importing an entire 3-5 GB session, collaborators can immediately play the entire session from the Splice cloud via waveform view (like SoundCloud) and even select a point on the timeline to comment where edits should be performed, e.g. “More cowbell here!”
