Premier Studios Expands with Purchase of 8th Floor at 723 7th Avenue

Premier Studios announced that it has completed the purchase of the 8th floor at 723 7th Avenue. With the acquisition, Premier takes over the SSL-equipped Studio A and producer’s room Studio E — both designed by Larry Swist — from Quad NYC.
As a result, Premier, owned by Sandy Schneiderman, now encompasses two SSL Studios, including their original SSL J9000-equipped main room, and two writer/production studios. Quad NYC now consists of the building’s 10th floor, where the fully-equipped Swist-designed Studio D production room resides, and plans to add new rooms in the consolidated operation have been announced by owner Ricky Hosn.
“Originally we could only offer two rooms — now we’ve doubled our infrastructure, and we’ll use that to offer more opportunity, via more choices,” says Glenn Swan, Studio Director of Premier Studios. “We’re now four rooms, all of them absolutely beautiful, highly professional, and the gear is pristinely maintained. In order for a commercial studio to be successful now, you need to have a facility like Premier Studios: A no-nonsense, pro facility that will offer a stellar recording experience, and deliver it at a reasonable price.
“A very thorough amount of thought and consideration went into this deal,” Swan continues. “We’re believing in America, and in New York City especially, that the economy is definitely going to turn around.” Premier’s Chief Tech Mac Browne and Operations Manager Tatiana Moroz will continue to oversee operations at the expanded facility.
According to Hosn, the tough choice to sell Quad NYC’s 8th floor to Premier was driven by the reality of current market forces. “It was a business decision,” he notes. “As everyone knows, this industry is getting tougher for New York-based recording studios. Artist budgets are shrinking while real estate is getting higher. Quad has had great success in the past but it was never enough for us to expand in the right direction. As the industry shifts, the studio model has to change as well.
“With the sale of the 8th floor to Premier, this will allow us to build more modern rooms with newer and more sought-after equipment. Also, having our entire operation on one floor allows us to focus on better service and client needs. Construction has already begun on one of the two rooms on the 10th floor — look for a grand opening in early October.”

Singer/songwriter Tatiana Moroz will be rolling out her debut album, Tatiana, at the Bitter End on Saturday, June 26, at 8:30 PM.
Straight outta Jersey, Moroz puts a subtly sultry spin on her blues/pop/rock explorations. From smokey to sweet to just plain pissed off, her many moods and new collection of songs create a cohesive musical journey.
Recorded, mixed and mastered 100% in the NYC area, SonicScoop gives Ms. Moroz a thumbs up for being 100% home-grown. Among the studios used to record Tatiana were Avatar, Chung King (RIP), Quad Studios, and Big Fat Suite. Mastering was by Angelo Montrone of Majestic Music Factory.
All mixes were by Chris Conway, except “Release In You” by LB Dorsey and “Look Like Honey” by Andros Rodriguez. “Evolution” was mixed by LB Dorsey and Chris Conway.
Congratulations and props to SonicScoop compadre Tatiana!! Party with the best of ‘em at The Bitter End!
