Post Moves: Sound Lounge Names Samara Levenstein Executive Producer, Entertainment Division

Sound Lounge announced that it has named Samara Levenstein to the post of Executive Producer for the company’s Entertainment Division.

Samara Levenstein has joined Sound Lounge as Executive Producer, Entertainment Division.

Levenstein comes to Sound Lounge after six years as a post production supervisor. Her most recent projects include collaborating with Academy Award-winning documentarian Alex Gibney on the Sound Lounge-mixed films The Road Back: Lance Armstrong, Magic Trip: Ken Kesey’s Search for a Kool Place, and Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer.

In her new position, Levenstein will strive to bring high-profile feature films and television projects to Sound Lounge. The appointment follows Sound Lounge’s 2010 unveiling of a brand-new ADR Stage, 10 Edit Suites, and an additional 5,000 sq. ft. of production.

Levenstein began her career as an apprentice editor working on such films as Milos Forman’s Man on the Moon, Julian Schnabel’s Before Night Falls, and John Waters’ Cecil B. Demented. She served as Assistant Editor on The Manchurian Candidate for director Jonathan Demme, then became post-production coordinator for director Sidney Lumet’s Find Me Guilty. She served as Post-Production Supervisor for films including Why We Fight for director Eugene Jarecki, Dave Chappelle’s Block Party for director Michel Gondry, and Definitely, Maybe for director Adam Brooks, in addition to the documentaries by Gibney.

The films that have been completed at Sound Lounge include Limitless; several Sundance-premiering films such as Gibney’s Magic Trip and Another Earth, Oscar nominated feature film, Blue Valentine; and Gibney’s Client 9 and The Road Back: Lance Armstrong.

Sound Lounge-mixed films screening at the Tribeca Film Festival this month were Magic Valley, mixed by Sound Lounge’s Tony Volante and Cory Melious with assistant re-recording mix by Steve Giammaria; In the Spirit of Laxmi, sound edited by Sound Lounge Hudson’s Peter Buccellato and mixed by Justin Matley; and two films mixed by Sound Lounge’s Tony Volante:  Semper Fi: Always Faithful and Catching Hell.

Current projects for the long-form division of Sound Lounge include the fourth season of “Damages” for Direct TV and the feature film Trespass, directed by Joel Schumacher.
