Fresh Freeware Alert: Kong Audio Releases ChineeGuZheng Classic

Audio developer Kong Audio announced that it has released the ChineeGuZheng Classic Windows VST plugin as freeware. ChineeGuZheng Classic follows Kong’s Mini DiZi and Mini ErHu, as its third freeware instrument.

The ancients would have WANTED this to be freeware: the ChineeGuZheng Classic.

Kong Audio explains their new virtual instrument thusly:

“GuZheng, as one of the most representative Chinese instruments, first appeared around the Warring States period (475 – 221 BC), then became extremely popular during the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907 AD) and spread to all neighboring areas ever since.

GuZheng was originally a rather simple instrument with only five strings. After all the years of evolution, today’s GuZheng has twenty-one strings and is still widely used in all kinds of Chinese music.

ChineeGuZheng Classic is superseded by ChineeGuZheng II, hence the former is turned into freeware, and it is now equipped with QIN engine, giving it more possibilities than before.

Even though ChineeGuZheng Classic is much less expressive and less detailed than ChineeGuZheng II, ChineeGuZheng Classic has its own place. Other than the different sound character, one unique feature that sets ChineeGuZheng Classic apart from other GuZheng libraries is that it was performed using GuQin’s techniques. This subtle yet distinctive difference makes ChineeGuZheng Classic one good collector’s item.”
