Paul Epworth Selects WSDG for London Church Studio Restoration

Prepare for a passing of the torch in London – sonically speaking.

The sound of the The Church, now owned by Paul Epworth, will be revitalized by John Storyk and his team.

One of the top producers in the game, Paul Epworth (Adele, Paul McCartney, Cee Lo Green, Florence & The Machine, Bruno Mars, John Legend) has purchased one of London’s landmark audio facilities, The Church Studio, and selected the Walters-Storyk Design Group, based in Highland, NY, for a complete reconfiguration of its Studio B Live and Control Rooms.

The Church stands as a UK studio with some serious history. Originally built in 1855, the magnificent North London structure was purchased by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics in 1984, and took on new life as an elite recording studio that would go on to host sessions by the likes of Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Radiohead and Depeche Mode.

Multiplatinum artist David Gray bought the studio in 2004, and continued to record there extensively. After Gray announced plans last year to convert the studio into apartments and office spaces, however, Epworth stepped in and purchased The Church – a transaction that was completed earlier this year.

Epworth is committed to maintaining, and building on, the facility’s world-class reputation. WSDG was recruited after Epworth worked in the John Storyk-designed Jungle City Studios in NYC and is now tasked with substantially upgrading the complex. The estimated time of completion for the project is approximately six months.

Miloco Services has been retained to coordinate studio installations and operations.
