Waves Announces SoundGrid Studio System – Audio Networking Platform

Constantly expanding their capabilities, Waves has conquered plug-in development and has even dipped their toe in the virtual instruments realm. Now with the release of SoundGrid Studio System, Waves treads new territory with a platform that will enhance user’s existing software/hardware integration and workflow in the studio – not replace it. So how does SoundGrid Studio System (SSS) plan to accomplish this, exactly?

This takes Waves’ SoundGrid platform, which was originally launched with live sound, broadcast, and post production foremost in mind, and guides it to the studio realm — Waves calls it a “new way of thinking in regards to mixing and recording.” The video below will tell you a lot more.

Think of it as a virtual super patch-bay that can route any audio source/asset to any other input, room, monitor mix or DAW virtually – and from a single operating window. SSS can even route DSP assets from the SoundGrid servers to power plug-ins on any other computer linked to the system.

Just one of the elements that SoundGrid will use to allocate studio assets.

Custom drivers are just one of the elements that SoundGrid will utilize to allocate studio assets.

To top it off, Waves is allowing open-development of the SoundGrid protocol to all audio software and hardware developers. We can expect some interesting things to happen with this new integration.

The SoundGrid Studio System by Waves is included with any of their existing and future DigiGrid Interfaces, which currently range from $1,280 – $3760 MSRP. Here are a few more details about SoundGrid Studio System from Waves:
