iZotope is helping mixers to raise their game with “Mix Resolutions: 10 Tips for Creating Better Mixes,” an audio mixing masterclass from a pair of experts. Offered free of charge, the video series is led by award-winning engineer and producer Enrique Gonzalez Müller (Kronos Quartet, Nine Inch Nails, Los Amigos Invisibles, Jason Newsted) and Mastering Engineer, Professor and Director of Education at iZotope Jonathan Wyner.

A five-part series of online video tutorials, the dynamic duo will outline 10 tips for developing good habits as a mixer. As a working model, Müller mixes a song by indie garage rockers The Rare Occasions.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • Week 1: Developing good mix habits
  • Week 2: Balancing like a music lover, not like an engineer
  • Week 3: Tackling gain staging and using reference recordings
  • Week 4: Frequency distribution and preserving the musical balance
  • Week 5: Defending the craft and knowing when your mix is done

Designed for everyone involved in music recording, production, and mixing audiences, attending this Audio U couldn’t be easier: Simply sign up for the course on iZotope’s website, and like magic each video lecture will arrive directly to your inbox each Monday, January through February 6, 2017. Can’t be parked by your email on Mondays? Fear not — the videos will also be archived online after the masterclass’ initial run.
